Physical Education

At Strathaird Primary school. our Physical Education Program is dedicated to nurturing the holistic development of our students. We prioritize the acquisition of fundamental motor skills, which serve as the cornerstone for physical competence. These skills encompass the essential abilities required for lifelong physical activities. Our program places great emphasis on the following aspects:

Fundamental Motor Skills: We focus on the acquisition and mastery of fundamental motor skills, including locomotor skills like running and jumping, object control skills such as throwing and catching, and balance skills like standing on one foot. These skills form the building blocks for a wide range of physical activities.

Holistic Development: Our program goes beyond physical skills. We aim to foster social, emotional, and cognitive growth by promoting teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking through physical activities and games.

Inclusivity: We ensure that every student, regardless of their individual abilities, can participate and make progress in our program. We adapt our approach to accommodate diverse needs and learning styles.

Enjoyment of Physical Activity: We believe that fostering a love for physical activity is key to lifelong health. Our program strives to make physical education fun and engaging, encouraging students to stay active beyond the classroom.

Safety and Well-Being: The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities. Our Physical Education Teachers are trained to create a secure and supportive environment where students can confidently develop their fundamental motor skills.
